Cascade Lake Survey
Client:  US Bureau of Reclamation - Pacific Northwest Region
Where: Cascade Lake, Idaho

Project Scope
The purpose of this survey was to reestablish the Bureau of Reclamation's land boundaries for Reclamation-owned parcels at sites in the vicinity of Lake Cascade, Idaho.  Boundary surveys, reestablishing boundary lines of a parcel of land, cadastral surveys, resurveys, and/or retracements of public lands within the Public Land Survey System of the United States for restoration of the property lines were required.

Project Tasks

  • Field survey work using two and three man crews using GPS and conventional surveying equipment
  • Records research at the county courthouse
  • Existing corner search for controlling corners needed to establish the Bureau's boundaries
  • Established a project survey control network which was tied to the Idaho State Plane Coordinate System (NAD83) adjusting Trimble GPS equipment
  • Conducted section corner data analysis and sectional breakdown calculations
  • Searched for and tied existing Bureau property boundary corner monuments.  Missing monuments were calculated and re-established
  • Posted and marked +/- 5.6 miles required boundary line
  • Recorded surveys of the sections surveyed and filed with the Valley County Courthouse
  • Identified physical encroachments onto Bureau land and showed on the record survey drawings
  • Converted the CAD drawings to ArcView
